How to get to Instituto Superior Técnico
The IST can be easily reached from the airport by taxi, underground or bus.
Option 1 (Alameda station)By Metro (Underground)
The underground red line connects the Airport (Aeroporto station) to Lisbon centre (see Lisbon metro map). Two stations options can be used to reach IST from Airport using the “red line”, Alameda and Saldanha stations (see IST location map).
Exit the Alameda station and walk the “Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques” avenue up to the IST main entrance (see IST map entrance 2).Option 2 (Saldanha station)
Exit the Saldanha station following the “Duque de Ávila” avenue direction and then “Rovisco Pais” avenue up to IST Rovisco Pais entrance (see IST map entrance 1).

The easiest way to reach the centre of Lisbon, using a bus from the airport is the Aerobus. This special shuttle service provides regular transfer connection between Lisbon Airport, several central points of the city and the main bus and railway stations. The single ticket is about 3.50 €. Please use Aerobus line 1 to bring you from airport to Saldanha, the closest Aerobus point to IST.

There are two taxi zones within the airport area, one at arrivals and the other at departures. The fare on the taxi meter should read 2.00 € (day time) or 2.50 € (night time). Outside the city limits, city fares are charged per kilometer (0.45 €/km). An additional 1.60 € is normally charged for the transportation of luggage or animals. Before taking a taxi, inquire about the fare. Typically, a taxi from the airport to the city center should cost 6.00 € – 10.00 € (depending on traffic and distance).
